States may hold onto tax refunds for months…………………..
States from New York to Hawaii that have been hard-hit by the economic downturn say they have either delayed refunds or are considering doing so because of budget shortfalls.
“It’s an indicator of how bad it is,” says Scott Pattison, executive director of the National Association of State Budget Officers. “You know things are bad when you have to do that.”

March 12, 2010Stinky Feet Plague Florida Airport Workers…………………..
| PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS/AP) — Something stinks at Palm Beach International Airport.
And apparently it’s the no-shoes rule through security gates. The county airports director said at an advisory board meeting Wednesday security personnel “are complaining of odor” in the area and requested that the carpet be changed, according to a Palm Beach Post report.Flight delays often mean a shorter window than the airport’s regular 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. hours provide, meaning a new carpet might be more feasible than giving the current one a good shampooing. The county is already replacing much of the terminal tile and carpet, but nothing was immediately promised for the stinky security area.

Man is fatally struck by NJ Transit train in East Orange New Jersey
EAST ORANGE — An unidentified man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train just outside the NJ Transit station here early this evening, officials said.
The victim was apparently standing on the tracks just outside of the East Orange stop around 5:40 p.m. when he was struck by an express passenger train traveling along the Morris-Essex rail line, said NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel.
There were roughly 900 passengers aboard the train, which was not scheduled to stop in East Orange, Stessel said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and NJ Transit Police are conducting an investigation.
The accident took one line out of service and caused delays of about 30 to 45 minutes on the Morris-Essex Line, according to Stessel. Service was back on schedule around 8 p.m., he said.
