Illegally torrented “Star Trek”, Paramount may have your number

According to Torrentfreak, Star Trek was the most torrented movie of 2009, and was illegally downloaded 11 million times via torrent sites. Last year The Dark Knight had the (honor?) of being the most torrented movie of the year, with 7 million torrents. This seems to prove that illegal downloading of movies isn’t getting better?it’s getting worse. Star Trek was just the next step. However, Paramount may be prepared to seek action against those who illegally downloaded Star Trek, and may even be well on their way to getting what they want. According to io9.com, Paramount claims to have the IP addresses of 5 million of the 11 million who illegally torrented Star Trek, and is trying to get the FCC to stretch out their arms and take action. This could be the spark that ignites an all-out war against illegal downloading and torrenting of movies online. If you are one of the 11 million people who used a torrent site to illegally download Star Trek, Paramount has put you on notice. They may have your IP address, and they are ready to send you a bit more than grandma’s.
