Tokio Hotel’s Bill Kaulitz……………………………….
August 22, 2010Tokio Hotel has escaped my radar in the past since they are from a different country. I have seen their pictures before on some of the websites but never in person. That all changed as of last night. We caught up with the lead singer as he was leaving a restaurant last night in Los Angeles with friends. He was quiet and reserved as soon as he saw a camera and almost looked sad. Perhaps thats the look he wants his fans to see of him? Welcome to Los Angeles Bill; look forward to seeing you again soon.
Aw that is such a sad picture of him! I think he’s upset because he wasn’t expecting anyone to notice him and he could have a normal night out with friends. He’s famous everywhere just about and I’m afraid being normal for him or the rest of the guys from TH is next to impossible. Hang in there Bill!

Bill hates paparazzis, so I think he looked sad because of that. Maybe he just wanted a calm an private night out with his friends.

Some celebrities do hate paparazzi…Until they need them to help advertise their products so they can make oodles of money.
He had the option of going out underneath where the photographers could not get a picture but just walked out towards the camera instead.
I saw him inside Laughing….Right up until the moment he came out…Then he did this face. I don’t think he is really all that sad. Just wants it to appear that way for some reason.

Well, there were no fans around. And he’s not obligated to be happy in front of paparazzis. It’s not that he was chasing them down to break their cameras.
There are always fans around..Even when not around, fans go to magazines and websites to look up pictures of their favorite celebrities. So, the fans are “always” around…Even when not right in front of the celebrity.
You are right. He is not obligated to do anything at all. Whether it be happy for me or make millions and millions off of singing music.
Being photographed and being a celebrity go hand in hand. It is to be expected in the industry. Celebs make more money in a year than most people make in a lifetime. Those millions come from labels and product endorsements.
Being photographed when on “Public” property is to be expected.
He was not avoiding the camera so……….IMO, that is the “Look” he was going for.
If his fans did not buy the magazines or visit the blogs or buy the products he endorses…He could easily slip back into being a singer and doing it for minimum wage like so many others do. (Watch American Idol)
Paparazzi are an extension of the fans…..We have no personal interest in them other than supplying the world with the “desired” celebrities pictures.
The fans create the need/desire/price upon the celebrity. Photographers are just supplying the fans with the product you desire……But, then they complain about it later………………..Weird.
If he was sad, it’s because LA has been, up till now, a place he can go to escape the cameras and constant stalking that fill his life everywhere else. I would rather not know he’s in LA, and let him have a bit of peace, than have the damn paparazzi following him everywhere.
Considering the age they were when they signed, I highly doubt they make more money in a year than most people do in a lifetime. Let alone millions. (Yay for strangle contracts.) Also, I don’t think any fan has ever bought the products he endorses, considering the only product I can think of right now is Audie Q7. (And the new A1.) That sounds more beside the point than it is, because you make it seem like they get a HUUUGEEEE financial return for losing their privacy, which I don’t think is true. (They’re not that famous in the US, and that’s where IMO the money is.)
That being said, I don’t think you did anything wrong or anything. I don’t know you, but if you weren’t aggressive about getting a picture you’re just doing your job like anyone else, and paparazzi certainly is part of the deal. (Though I will never agree that chasing someone down violently, breaking in somewhere or verbally abusing them just to get a picture is okay.) I don’t see how it’s weird that people complain though. You’re right, it’s supply and demand but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a group of fans who just want them to be left alone instead of getting the pictures. They complain.
I’m kind of interested in this situation now though. Bill doesn’t strike me as the person to want the fans to see a certain look. But your right, he didn’t dodge the camera when he could’ve so… I wonder~ Maybe he didn’t want the paparazzi to see/photograph him happy? (He really deeply hates your guys…) I can imagine wanting to be seen in LA. But the look…?
You probably posted one of the ‘saddest’ pic out of the handful that is posted online. But really, what do you expect him to do when the camera was flashing on him unexpectedly? Plaster a fake huge grin on his face? Usually, when someone is not actually smiling, the natural relaxed expression is a slight frown, mouth turned downwards. The lighting can also make someone look more or less happy or sad then they appear to be. Most likely, he just wants a quiet night out with friends and didn’t expect the camera.

Yea, he is a celeb. But he is a normal guy too. Don’t you think he also want to have a night out with some friends or do you think he will be with the band 24/7 and get all locked up?

If you know Bill like we fans do, then you would know that Bill doesn’t “go out underneath where the phtographers could not get a picture” like some other stupid celebritiy pretenders who hides their faces and acts like they don’t want the photographers to take pictures of them but deep inside seethes with the desire for the paparazzi to get a good “don’t-take pictures-of-me-you-stupid-people” shot.

That face. My god, thanks for pointing out that he completely changed his stance once seeing the camera. A camera will not just make you stop laughing – unless you get paid for doing so. He clearly want’s the fans to think he’s all sad and in need of love. Could be in the contract, don’t know, but most fans just eat it up.

That Bill is a celebrity doesn’t mean that he has to be happy when being photographed by paparazzi … I know that there are some people who seek cameras to be popular but that was never a case of Tokio Hotel or Bill himself … They don’t have good experiences with European paparazzi and were expecting little more privacy in states since they are not that known there … It’s absolutely justifiable that he “pulled” a sad face …

As every article has said he has been off the radar and well here is away to pop back in! If he wanted to avoid the camera, he could have…I showed it to him before he even got to me. I am not one of the people who jump fences, trespass or generally piss off celebs. I am here to get pics of celebs for their fans…Not to ruin lives. If you look at the pics on my site, you will see mostly happy faces and celebs who know me by name.

Most paparazzi are annoying as hell…..I admit that. I am not one of them and will put down my camera if it comes to that point.

When you walk down a public street as a celebrity and you see a camera 15 feet ahead of you……You know you are going to get photographed.

Trust me when I say this…..When a celeb sees me with a camera versus any other paparazzi, they are happy to see me. (especially the European ones!!)

I never saw Tom, Gustav, or George. Technical people…The unknown people like lighting, and sound and stuff.
Bill obviously had no idea who was taking a photo. But, I will say that he most likely said, he was not aggressive at all and stayed back really far so I could get to my car, never flashed into my car and never even pushed my security guards. I am not here to make their lives difficult, just to document them from a distance….
But frankly he’s always like that around paparazzis. Very reserved indeed. And I think there was no need to avoid anyone. I’m sure he can deal with being around paparazzi for 10 seconds.
aww well The twins have a birthday comming up real soon and alot of fan action happening in Santa Barbra and they are suppose to be getting a twin tat! So with no official siting of the restt of the band then mmm!! This is a strange move for them! Bless your heart your not a TH fan so I am sorry if I am losing ya!
I did not see Tom. I asked guests of the restaurant if they had seen him and they said No. Does that prove he was not there? No. Just means no one saw him.
As we all know. A band consists of a lot of people who contribute. Lighting, sound, makeup, more makeup, stylists, whomever.
Hopefully, Tom, Gustav, and George are on the beach somewhere enjoying drinks and warm sun until they nap.

Take a look at most of the pics on my site. You will see that most are given to me by the celeb. There are interactions with them rather than chasing them down and hunting them with no remorse. Hell, half the time, if I photograph a female celeb, I go out and buy them flowers and say think you for being so nice.
I would bring you all more photos…But I have no idea where they are. I did not chase after them. If they go to Santa Barabara, and I hear of it….I am there.
Oh. I thought you meant Tom, Gustav and Georg when mentioning he was with the band. Well yeah, judging by the photos we have Bill was there with a manager, his make-up artist and a bodyguard. That’s at least, maybe there were other people from the team around.
A bunch of fans have been raising money to name a part of animal shelter after them! THloveunleashed is the group! But they will be in Vegas for there BDay! OMG! Your work is awsome! I see why the celebs like you! ;D

As per going to Vegas…..The hotels do not allow any cameras inside due to the strict gaming standards. Too hot for them to walk outside the hotels too….But, I am going to do research and see if they are doing any appearances there where I can get pictures for all the fans.

Are you people really that surprised that he looks so sad in this picture? i mean come one, he probably just thought that since he is in the U.S where Toio Hotel arent well known that he would finally have a night of quietness, but then all these annoying paparazzi people come on out and thrust all these cameras in front of his face with all the lights in his face and the screaming of “BILL LOOK OVER HERE!” that would defainetly ruin someones night. I mean, havent all of us just wanted some peace and quiet, sometimes?
He doesnt always happy to have a smile on his face, hes a human being not some robot. And even though having no privacy comes with the price of being famous, he still does have the right to spend atleast one night without people coming up to him asking for an autograph or a picture. I also dont think he cares if his fans see him like that because he knows that his true fans would understand why he is so sad in this picture.
Plus, just because Tom is his twin brother, it doesnt mean that they spend every waking moment together, they do need their own space sometimes too, but it doesnt mean that they are in a fight. Same goes for Georg and Gustav, they need their own space too, and they dont have to spend every moment as a band, they have lives too.

Haha, well said, whoever the admin is about the fact there are, in a sense, always fans around and that the paparazzi contribute to a celebrities success. I’ll remember that. And I enjoy the fact that you give the people you photograph their personal space; shows self restraint which is admirable.

Thanks for saying you are not an obnoxious paparazzi, but I do think that often Paps are obnoxious. Recently I saw a video of Rob Pattison being hunted like an animal and begging them to leave him alone after they had been following them all day.
And don’t say you do it “for fans”. You do it to make a buck and feed the machine.

Forgive me for not beleiving Bill wanted to be photographed. We have seen enough photos of him to know when he wants to be photographed and they involve smiles, not downcast eyes.

He does have plenty of peace and quiet I am sure on private jets, The Four seasons suites and exotic locations. Most restaurants in LA offer services )Like underground) to avoid being photographed also.

I am saying he did not avoid the camera one bit. He is quite used to camera by now. Just took it like a professional and walked to his car. Did not smile and did not cry. Just kept a blank stare on his face.
Fans always wanna see the pics…but sometimes wanna complain if they are not smiling. I did not expect him to smile from ear to ear for me. He does not know me. But, sometimes the celebs forget I am not taking these for anyone but to go to the fans.

I do my job…Mostly for the fans..Money is “not” my first concern. I want to take a good picture. Most celebs that know me will testify to that in a second. Notice most of the pics on my site…Great eye contact and a smile.

As per stalking……Most fans know more about the celebrities whereabouts than I and their personal lives. I only take a picture. If they walk on a public sidewalk in front of me….They will be photographed unless they know me and ask not to.

The celebs go to the same ten restaurants when they are looking to be photographed. There are 1000′s of restaurants in LA. 980 of them have no paparazzi in front of them.

He doesn’t look sad to me. And I don’t think he was sad at that moment or tried to look sad for the picture. He just never poses to paparazzi, so he has a blank expression on his face. That’s all. I don’t remember ever seeing a photo taken by paparazzi where Bill makes an eye contact and looks directly to the camera looking all happy and joyful about the situation, if the photo is taken in his private time when he is spending some time with his family and friends.
Bill is certainly born to be in front of cameras and he loves photo shoots and all that, but only when it’s work related and he himself can be in charge of it. Otherwise he seems to be quite reserved in front of cameras and tries to keep his free time activities and personal life out of magazines whenever it’s possible. Yes, of course he acknowledges, that as a celebrity there will always be a change of paparazzi wanting to take his picture when he goes to a restaurant or a bar on his free time. And he usually doesn’t try to run away or hide himself like some other celebrities might do. But he also doesn’t pose for paparazzi like some other celebrities willingly do.
Bill just doesn’t like to act like it’s the most comfortable and joyfull situation for him and a god given chance to make some good promotion for his band, because he doesn’t concider those situations like that. Bill promotes Tokio Hotel in interviews and in TV shows and appearances, but I think he would rather leave his private time with his friends and family out of magazines if he only had that choice.
Yes, it’s true that many celebrities actually self use paparazzi to keep themselves out there in people’s minds, but Bill just isn’t one of them. I have nothing against the admin though. If you really do your job like you described, it’s also good for those more reserved celebrities like Bill, that it is you taking the picture and not some maniac hunter paparazzi, who doesn’t respect any boundaries. Because we all know that there wouldn’t even be any paparazzi photos if the great public weren’t so interested in them.
